The Patient Account Representative interacts with all departments, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Internal Medicine Receptionist (FT)

Switchboard Operator

Job Duties

The Switchboard Operator is responsible for all incoming calls and patient calls which require operator assistance. The Operator works with long distance and hospital-wide paging. Serves as cashier for payments, staff, and visitors. Interacts with patient accounts: post account payments to the general ledger via the computer system on payments made at the Switchboard; answers questions regarding status of bill; answer basic insurance questions regarding bill or directs to other billing personnel. Greets and directs visitors to patient areas. Prints and distributes daily patient census and bed sheet. Calculates and balances daily p.m. deposit.
